Apaika Huaorani Settlement

Apaika (which means ‘Moon’), a Huaorani settlement in the Huaorani Territory in Ecuador’s Amazon. Here a young boy by the name of Bai (his Spanish name is Ronald) plays with a tayra, a weasel-like animal that is native and wild in the surrounding forest. The tayra is known as the cabeza de mate in Spanish.
